Croatian islands

Croatian islands are small parallel worlds; each island has a life of its own, its own spirit and its own message. Among the Croatian islands, the Kornati islands, a masterpiece of nature, truly stand out, while the small Sibenik islands such as Krapanj are the best places for a secluded vacation. Near Split, is Hvar, the sunniest of all the islands and an island with the oldest theatre in Europe.

The island of Brac is famous for its two kilometer long sandy beach known as Zlatni Rat, heaven for surfers, while next to the island of Vis is Modra Spilja (Blue Grotto) – a natural phenomenon of the Adriatic.

Further south is the wooded island of Korcula, the home of Marco Polo as well as the green Elaphite islands close to Dubrovnik.

You can choose to visit Croatian islands:

Kvarner islands
The Kvarner islands are located in the Kvarner bay in the northern part of the Adriatic Sea. The islands of Krk, Rab, Cres, Losinj and Pag are marked by the moderate Mediterranean climate and specific spirit that rules these islands. Here you will find many cultural monuments, hear the specific dialect of the locals and enjoy the peace and quiet of the islands. The islands of Krk and Pag are connected by bridges to the mainland while the islands of Cres and Losinj are interconnected by bridges. Coniferous forests will provide plenty of shade on those hot summer days and the air here has medicinal characteristics. Don’t miss an opportunity to try high quality wines from the Kvarner islands.

Northern Dalmatian islands
The group of northern Dalmatian islands includes the islands of Ugljan, Pasman, Vir, Dugi otok, Ist, Molat, Silba, Olib, Kornati, Murter, Prvic, Kaprije, Iz, Krapanj, Zirje and other small islands. A peaceful atmosphere, an easy way of living and time that practically stands means no noise or hurriedness. Here you will enjoy clean beaches, swimming and particularly deep-sea diving, since the underwater world is truly like something out of a fairy tale. The Kornati National Park is also worth seeing so we recommend an excursion to the park where you will become familiar with untouched nature and primordial peace.

Central Dalmatian islands
The islands of Hvar, Brac, Vis, Solta, Ciovo and some smaller islands belong to the group of central Dalmatian islands. The islands of Hvar and Brac are favorite trendy destinations which attract tourists with an ideal combination of nature, culture and fun. The island of Vis is the farthest settled island along the Adriatic where you will find hidden coves with beautiful beaches which are within walking and even sailing distances much like on the islands of Solta and Ciovo for those of you looking for peace and quiet to recharge your batteries. The blue grotto near the island of Vis is definitely worth seeing – here you shall see the blue light prodding through the sea from the bottom of the cave which is how the grotto got its name.

Southern Dalmatian islands
The group of southern Dalmatian islands includes Korcula, Lastovo, the Elaphite islands, near Dubrovnik and the island of Mljet. The Elaphite islands include Sipan, Lopud and Kolocep. North of the Elaphite islands is the island of Mljet, part of which is a national park. Should you decide to go further you will reach the islands of Lastovo and Korcula. On the island of Korcula you will see the island’s historical tradition displayed in knight games and taste delicious wines which compliment Dalmatian specialties. Discover why the Romans referred to Lastovo as the Emperor’s island and how carnivals are celebrated.
